Mr. President, Be My President

It is said that we only have one volume of writings from Patrick Henry compared to the many volumes of the other forefathers.  Henry was an orator, a speech maker.  Whenever I write, I do not write with the mindset of writing an entry or article.  I write as if I am prepping a speech.  Speech making is what I do and what I know.   The following is a speech, directly addressed to our President.  Play along, imagine you are reading this on the floor of the House or Senate!

There is something deeply wrong, dare I say perverse, when a Presidential Administration would rather befriend terroristic nations, listen to America bashing rants of  dictators, and then release memos that directly challenge the security of the nation.

All of the above has taken place under the guise of "listening to the world" and "improving our image" in the world.  With all due respect Mr. President, if you want to have a "listening tour" - join a hearing aid clinic.  With all due respect, if you want to improve our image in the world - be concerned more with the safety of our country, of my family, of my two year old - over the feelings of dictators who want nothing but to destroy my way of life.  You want to improve our image - depict us as stronger.

Mr. President, if the history of our national interest has proven any thing to us it is the following.  While we may have friends around the world, wonderful allies with which we work to better mankind, there is only one person who must have interest of the nation at heart, at all times - you.  You were not hired to teach us on "values being better."  You were not hired to help the self-esteem of any other country.  You were not even hired to "improve our image" in the world.  You were hired with one goal, based upon our founding documents - to protect us.  To protect our safety, our security and our interests here and around the world.

Can we just be honest?  America is hated by many around the world.  And that hatred began, sometime around the mid 1700s.  This will never change Mr. President.  Our uncontrolled way of life is despised by dictators who desire to control all ways of life.  The power of the individual is despised by those seeking power.  Our way of life is envied by many a leader who has attempted to use governmental control to expand their way of life - at the expense of their people.

Mr. President, I ask of you, I implore you to be - my President, not the President to the world.  I am paying the bills here in America.  And in many cases, because of foreign aid, I am paying the bills for many other countries.  I am relying on you Mr. President, based on our Constitution, to protect me physically and protect my freedom.  I am asking that you defend the honor of our country when others speak ill of Her.  I implore you to look at things such as pirates, terrorism, and political corruption and respond, "not on my watch."

Mr. President, my family and I are the "regular folk."  We get up every day, we work hard, we pay our fair share of taxes, we obey the laws of the land, and we celebrate our freedom simply by attempting to do the right thing, the good thing.  Mr. President protect my family.  Embrace my family and our freedom to pursue "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

Mr. President, though I did not vote for you, though I will not vote for you if/when you seek re-election, you are my President.  And since, by vote of the people, you are the President - then be my President.
